Welcome
Thank you for your interest in joining Open Ownership’s International Advisory Board.
Companies are embedded into all aspects of society and can be crucial for investment in sustainable development. Their proper functioning through transparency and accountability is therefore relevant to allowing all aspects of society to function and develop. Open Ownership’s vision is that governments, businesses, and citizens can readily access accurate, complete, and high-quality information on the people who own, control, or benefit from companies – the beneficial owners – and use this information to achieve their goals, including reducing corruption and tax evasion, improving procurement, and creating a well-functioning business environment.
Our work has a global impact. Since the organisation’s creation in 2017, we have become the leading global organisation thinking about the practicalities of making this goal a reality. We have worked with almost 40 countries to advance beneficial ownership reforms, have created the world's leading data standard for exchanging this information, and pioneered the world's first transnational open beneficial ownership register.
As part of the organisation’s growth, we are recruiting members for a new International Advisory Board. This Board will supercede the Steering Group that has overseen Open Ownership’s work since its inception, and will support us in finalising and delivering our new 2025 to 2030 strategy. This strategy is crucial for us to best focus the organisation's expertise - our people, our knowledge and our tech - to achieving a bold goal: that by the end of this decade, everyone, inside and outside of government, who needs beneficial ownership information, has it and can use it to benefit everyone in society.
Open Ownership is a diverse organisation, not just in its work, which spans directly supporting governments to deliver new policy, law, and technology through to producing the highest-quality, peer-reviewed research and latest technology, but also in its staff and the countries we work with. Therefore, we seek a global advisory board representing that breadth of work and the contexts in which we work. We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in beneficial ownership, governance, policy development, digital reforms or research, and those with experience working with governments and international organisations.
Our new International Advisory Board will play a critical role in shaping Open Ownership’s next period of growth and provide support and scrutiny to me and my senior team as we deliver our new strategy. It should also play a crucial public-facing role, supporting us to advocate for these reforms at the highest levels within national governments and on the international stage. We also need to ensure that our work remains well-resourced, so we are seeking expertise and energy to support our relationships with existing and potential funders.
It is my great pleasure to lead Open Ownership. We have an exceptional team of the world’s leading experts on delivering these reforms, and I hope that you consider joining us to help shape the future of this vital work.
