About us

LTSB Overview

Leadership Through Sport & Business (LTSB) is a UK-based social mobility charity that prepares and supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds into meaningful roles with major firms. We make sure those at risk of under-employment find careers equal to their ambition and ability and can contribute from their first day on the job.

Since 2012, we’ve worked with 1963 young people, providing them with personal and professional development to prepare them for the world of work, then working to place them in roles across accountancy and finance, digital technology, customer service, law, marketing and insurance.

Our Vision

A world where all young people can choose their careers.

Our Mission

LTSB prepares, connects and supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to careers with leading organisations.

We do this by:

  • Promoting opportunities to those from under-represented backgrounds

  • Preparing young people for the workplace, and the workplace for young people

  • Placing candidates in careers, stewarding and contextualising their application

  • Providing pastoral care – a support network for the first year of their career.

Our Values

WE ARE BOLD.

  • BESPOKE: using our authority and expertise to meet the specific needs of our stakeholders

  • OPEN-MINDED: respecting young people’s unique differences and seeing their potential

  • LEADERS: enabling social mobility by challenging discrimination and inequality

  • DETERMINED: committed to empowering long-term change.

Our Strategy 2023 – 2028

At LTSB, we are at a pivotal moment in our journey. Having experienced a period of significant growth, we are now focused on consolidating our achievements and embedding sustainability across the organisation. This is an exciting challenge for a leader who is ready to shape the next phase of our development, helping us strengthen our foundations while maintaining the momentum that has driven us forward.

Our 2023–2028 Strategy outlines three key objectives that guide everything we do:

  1. Ensure more young people are placed into meaningful careers

  2. Expand our programmes

  3. Create a culture of high standards, well-being, and belonging.

As CEO, you will take the lead in delivering this strategy, while also seeking out innovative ways to achieve these goals. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring that LTSB continues to grow, adapt, and thrive.

Your Impact as CEO

In this role, you will:

  • Support and stabilise: Following a period of growth, your leadership will help us embed strong operational practices, ensuring the organisation has the resilience to sustain its ambitions.

  • Expand our impact: By leading the delivery of our strategy, you will enable more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to access meaningful careers, transforming their futures and improving social mobility.

  • Drive innovation: We are looking for a CEO who can bring fresh ideas, build partnerships, and seek out opportunities that enable us to deliver on our mission in new and impactful ways.

  • Shape our culture: You will nurture a workplace that prioritises high standards, well-being, and belonging, creating an environment where staff, partners, and young people feel valued and inspired.

A Unique Opportunity to Lead Change

Joining LTSB means becoming part of a team dedicated to breaking down barriers for young people. Your leadership will make a tangible difference, not only in the lives of those we support but also in the future direction of the charity itself.

This is a chance to step into a challenging yet rewarding role, where you can build a sustainable and effective organisation while delivering meaningful change. If you are passionate about social mobility, driven by the desire to empower others, and ready to lead a charity that is making a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Together, we can create a future where ambition and ability are met with opportunity, ensuring that every young person has the chance to succeed, no matter their background.

Finances

LTSB has shown strong financial performance over the past few years, resulting in good liquidity and strong reserves, including a healthy cash balance. At the end of June 2024, the charity had total unrestricted reserves of £1,512k (including designated funds). Restricted reserves were £140k, giving total net reserves of £1,652k. The UK’s shifting political and economic environment presents complex risks to our mission and responsibilities as an employer. Changes in government priorities, economic instability and new employment regulations may impact young people's opportunities and are increasing operational costs - directly affecting the disadvantaged young people we support. Our long-term strategy has funding diversification as a main aim, with additional programmes which will generate funds from a range of sources. This means we are no longer wholly reliant on employers and employment for growth and impact, with a school’s programme that addresses fundamental inequalities that impact on social mobility.

Equity, diversity and inclusion statement

At LTSB, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are not just principles we uphold - they are part of our foundation and embedded in everything we do. From our inception, we have championed opportunities for individuals from all walks of life, recognising that diversity enriches our community and drives meaningful change.

EDI is at the heart of who we are. It shapes the way we work, the decisions we make, and the impact we strive to achieve. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstance.

Our mission is to break down barriers and build bridges to opportunity. We actively challenge inequality, promote inclusivity, and celebrate the unique contributions of all individuals. We believe that by embracing diversity in all its forms, we can foster innovation, inspire excellence, and make a lasting difference.

At LTSB, EDI is not just a commitment - it is who we are.
