Equal opportunities policy
Canopi aims to be an equal opportunities employer and undertakes to apply objective criteria to make decisions affecting people.
It is Canopi’s policy to ensure that no employee or job applicant receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of race, colour, national or ethnic origins, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, disability, membership or non-membership of a trade union, ‘spent convictions’ of ex-offenders, economic status, social background, age, political or religious belief or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements which cannot be shown to be relevant to performance. Canopi will ensure that there is no unlawful discrimination in employment opportunities, pay or other terms and conditions, training and development, appraisal, promotion, placement or termination. Issues of disability will only be considered against the particular requirements of the job and full consideration will be given to making reasonable adjustments to enable such individuals to contribute fully to the organisation.
Commitment to equal opportunities is a requirement for, and responsibility of, all staff. You are therefore responsible for ensuring that your behaviour and activities meet a standard that is in keeping with the organisation’s policy.
Those who hold line management, supervisory or other senior positions have the additional and particular responsibility to ensure the effectiveness of the policy’s application and the commitment of all staff and others to it.
Every person is entitled to a working environment that promotes dignity and respect to all. No form of intimidation, bullying or harassment whether on grounds of disability, race, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religious or political belief or for any other reason, whether deliberate or unintentional will not be tolerated at Canopi.
Discriminatory behaviour, failing to comply with the equal opportunities policy, inciting others to practice discrimination resulting in harassment or bullying of an employee or retaliation against or victimisation of any employee involved in the bringing a complaint of harassment or bullying under Canopi’s procedure will be dealt with as either serious or gross misconduct under Canopi's disciplinary policy.
